非球面輪廓菲涅耳透鏡是用於聚焦應用的輕薄平面透鏡。菲涅耳透鏡透過一系列同心溝槽替代傳統透鏡的曲面,這些溝槽被模壓在輕薄塑膠片的表面。這些溝槽如同一個個微小的稜鏡,在橫截面上起到獨立折射面的作用,將平行光線精確地彎曲至共同的焦距。由於非球面輪廓菲涅耳透鏡非常薄,因此通過吸收損失的光線非常少。菲涅耳透鏡在效率和圖像質量之間做出平衡。高溝槽密度可提供更高質量的圖像,而低溝槽密度則能提高效率(如在光收集應用中所需)。在無限共軛系統中,透鏡的溝槽面應朝向較長的共軛端。 

菲涅耳透鏡在聚光應用 (例如聚光系統或發射器/偵測器設備) 中最為常用。菲涅耳透鏡還可以用作放大鏡或投影透鏡,但是由於畸變度高而不建議使用。
