金屬線柵偏振薄膜非常適用於需要高對比度偏振的應用(包括微型投影機、偏振分光鏡及抬頭顯示器)。金屬線柵偏振薄膜經過精心設計，可穿透所需的偏振狀態，而反射不需要的狀態。由於這些偏光片在入射角達45°時具有光譜平直的效能，因此也可以用作偏振分光鏡。此外，金屬線柵偏振薄膜在高溫或潮濕環境中具備出眾的耐用性，並能在400 - 1200nm的可見光與近紅外光範圍內提供絕佳的效能。
