Radial Polarization Converters Reduce Laser Beam Spot Size

Designed to convert linear polarization to radial or azimuthal polarization

9/2/2014, Barrington, NJ USA   —

Edmund Optics® (EO), the premier provider of optical components, introduces its new Radial Polarization Converters. These S-waveplates are designed to convert linear polarization to radial or azimuthal polarization to reduce laser beam spot size.

Can be used to create an Optical Vortex or Doughnut Beam

Radial Polarization Converters are optimal for a wide variety of applications. For example, they can improve the edge quality of machine structures by reducing inaccuracies caused by distortion or for drilling and cutting features with high aspect ratios.

Radial Polarization Converters produce radially polarized light, which is ideal for STED (stimulated emission depletion) or two-photon excitation fluorescence microscopy, laser micromachining and optical tweezing applications. They can be used to create an optical vortex or doughnut beam.

High Damage Thresholds

Radial Polarization Converters feature 5mm aperatures and are available in 632nm, 800nm and 1030nm wavelength models with an outer diameter of 25.4mm. All models are manufactured from a UV fused silica substrate and feature high damage thresholds of 20J/cm2 at 3.5ns and 1064nm, 20-10 surface quality and 1/8λ surface acuracy. Radial Polarization Converters are in-stock and available for immediate delivery for fast turnaround and excellent value.
